Company Management - Key Personnel

Junaid Iqbal

Chief Executive Officer

Prior to joining Elixir Securities, Junaid Iqbal served as the CEO of BMA Financial Services, where he managed the financial products distribution, retail equity brokerage and commodity brokerage business. Under his leadership, the firm delivered a comprehensive solution which was customer friendly and technologically sound, and which allowed clients to easily invest in equities, commodities, fixed income instruments and mutual funds using a unified platform.

Junaid graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a degree in Economics. He started his career as an Energy Trader with American Electric Power in Columbus, Ohio.

In 2004, he established ‘Tezi Mandee,’ Pakistan’s first live stock market show on Geo TV. He then went on to join the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) as Head of Financial Analysis and Official Spokesperson and had the opportunity to represent the SECP in the Senate’s and the National Assembly’s Standing Committee for Finance.

He was also a part of CNBC Pakistan’s launch team, where he served as an Anchor and Head of Research. He hosted CNBC’s flagship show Power Lunch.

In 2010, Junaid was invited by the White House as a delegate to President Obama’s Summit on Entrepreneurship in Washington DC. He serves as the Chairman for the Board of Advisors of AIESEC in Karachi, Vice-Chairman of the MIT Enterprise Forum of Pakistan, and as Treasurer for the Charter for Compassion.

Asad Warsi

Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Asad Warsi has over 13 years experience in the area of Finance. He spent his last 9 years in the Brokerage Industry with particular focus in the area of Operations Management.

Prior to Elixir, Asad has served the following leading brokerage firms in Pakistan:

Fortune Securities Limited – Chief Operating Officer
Capital One Equities Limited – Chief Operating Officer
AKD Securities (Pvt.) Limited – Director Finance

Asad commenced his career as a Consultant in the Management Consulting Wing of Deloitte & Touché Pakistan. He was involved in various corporate finance, advisory and privatization assignments during his stay at Deloitte which lasts for three years.

Asad is an Associate Member (ACA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP). He is also a Cost and Management Accountant (ACMA) from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP).

Bilal Athar

Director Sales

Mr. Bilal Athar brings with him over 15 years of work experience in equity sales. Mr. Bilal has recently rejoined Elixir Securities after a 4-year stint with Invisor Securities, where he managed the equity sales function. While at Invisor Mr. Bilal was part of Invisor's senior management and responsible for all Local Institutional, Retail and High Net Worth sales.

While at Elixir Securities (Formerly W.I Carr Securities) reactivated the retail sales desk, identifying trading and investment opportunities for few large local financial institutions and facilitating trading in Pakistan Eurobonds. He was also managing Elixir’s branch offices at Lahore and Islamabad.

Prior to Elixir, he was a Senior Equity Dealer at FC ABN AMRO Equities, where he was responsible for managing the institutional sales desk of the company.

Zeeshan Butt

Business Development & Northern Head

Mr.Zeeshan Saeed Butt is Business Development Manager and Head of North Region. He has over 13 years of experience in capital markets. Prior to joining Elixir Securities, he has been associated with leading brokers of the industry, they are:

Alfalah Securities (Pvt) Limited: Head of Equity Sales
Indosuez W.I Carr Securities: Head of Lahore
Taurus Securities (Pvt) Limited: Institutional Sales

During his tenure, Mr.Zeeshan has worked closely with the managements of Bank Alfalah and Credit Agricole Indosuez Bank. He developed number of retail products that were offered to bank customers.

Academically, Mr.Zeeshan Saeed Butt holds MBA degree from Institute of business Administration (IBA) Karachi

Muhammad Azfer Naseem

Head of Research

Mr. Azfer Naseem joined Elixir in June 2010 as Deputy Head of Research and was promoted to the position of Head of Research in September 2010. Prior to joining Elixir, Azfer worked at Invisor Securities, where he covered Oil & Gas, Power, Cement, Telecom and Textile sectors.

Azfer cleared his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 3 exam in 2010, and holds a BBA (finance) from Institute of Business Administration, Karachi. He secured third position in his BBA with a CGPA of 3.81.

Syed Murshid Ali

Head of Treasury Services

Mr. Murshid Ali has been associated with Elixir Securities since 1999 as the Head of Treasury Services. He has over 15 years of Money Market broking experience with focus on clients portfolio, corporate deals as well as structured bonds.

Prior to joining Elixir, Mr. Murshid was associated with KASB Securities for 5 years as a chief dealer in their money market desk. At Elixir, he has been instrumental in setting up FX Desk in 2000.

Mr. Murshid holds an MBA degree and has attended many seminars and workshops related to finance.
